Edith was born September 28, 1931 on the family farm outside of Deaver, WY, to Warren (Hoosty) Cook and Antelena (Lena) Lauskitis Cook. Edith passed away at her home in Cowley January 26, 2013.  Her funeral will be January 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Cowley LDS church.  Interment will be at the Cowley cemetery.

Edith grew up around the Cowley area sharing her childhood home with a brother Harold and her sister Nancy.  After graduating high school she moved to Basin where she worked as a telephone operator.

Edith met and married the love of her life Edward Raymond Barnes on January 24, 1958 in Cowley.  Out of this union came three children John Warren Barnes (Carolyn) of Cowley, Renela Marie Barnes of Lovell and Carol Jean Barnes of Casper. She has six grandchildren Raymond, Christopher, Natasha, Melissa (Justin), Elizabeth and Della Rose.

Edith moved around with Ed during the first years of their marriage following Ed employment endeavors.  When John was in Middle school Edith and Ed decided to make their home permanently in Cowley, so the children did not change schools during their high school years.

Edith was a wonderful homemaker and a great inspiration to her children, family and friends.  Edith was a member of the LDS church serving many different calling during her service.  She loved knitting and sewing.  She loved to make Afghans, pot holders, dish cloths to give to her family and friends.  She would give these out as special occasion gifts.  She loved flowers of any kind, however she favored pink roses.  She supported her children and grandchildren in what ever venture they choose.

Edith fulfilled her dream of making it to the temple and sealing herself to the love of her live.  This was something she worked hard at over the years.  She always said you were never too old to get things done.

Edith is preceded in death by her parents Warren and Lena Cook, her sister Nancy Cook Engin Keen, and her husband Edward Raymond Barnes.  She is survived by her 4 children, 7 grandchildren and her brother.  She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cowley LDS Church. Burial will be in the Cowley Cemetery.
