Gerald Scott Brinkerhoff was born Dec. 9, 1957 in the Powell Hospital and raised in Lovell. He was the second son and fifth surviving child of Gerald and Dorothy Brinkerhoff. He attended school in Lovell where he met Minda McArthur. The couple married in January of 1976 and were blessed with two sons and two daughters.

Scott attended college in Rock Springs where he studied computer science. He held various jobs in the field, which took him across the country. He lived and worked in Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Virginia and Alaska. His final job with Banner Health of Fairbanks provided him with the opportunity of living in Cowley near his extended family, while working remotely. He very much enjoyed his time in Cowley and getting to know and associate with the people of that community.

Scott loved the outdoors and spending time in the mountains hunting and camping. He actively served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and found great joy in his recent calling with the young men of the church. The (???) Scouts he worked with thought fondly of him. He got rave reviews for his homemade French fries also known as “Scott-Fries.” Most of all Scott loved his family. He often spoke of moving somewhere to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Regardless of where they were living, Scott attended the baptisms of his grandkids when they reached that age.

Scott died on Aug. 11 in Salt Lake City, where he had been Life-Flighted after suffering a heart attack.

He is survived by his children, Curtis (Allison) Brinkerhoff of Katy, Texas Garret (Casey) Brinkerhoff of Saratoga Springs, Utah, Amber (Rychael) Ure of American Falls, Idaho, and Shanardean (Jacob) Silva of Boise, Idaho; 17 grandchildren; his parents, Gerald and Dorothy Brinkerhoff; sisters, Peggy (Frankie) Rohrer and Barbara Nickeson of Spring Creek, Nevada; brothers Jay (Margie) and Jack Brinkerhoff; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, who all miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, infant sister Jane, and brother-in-law Delmar Nickeson.

Funeral services were held in the LDS Chapel in Cowley on August 15 and interment followed in the Lovell Cemetery.

I was pleased to grow up with Scott in the Lovell 3rd Ward. We attended school together, and shared in many wonderful activities as young men. To his entire family, we send our greetings and best wishes as you celebrate his life.
