Joseph Ferrell Mangus, 83, was born June 25, 1935, in Lovell to Jake Ferrell and Mary Ellen Watts Mangus. He died Jan. 7, 2019, at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell.

It was nearly 64 years ago when Ferrell married the love of his life, Janice Wagner, on Jan. 17, 1955. They were blessed with two children, Carla and Bob. Ferrell always enjoyed spending time with family and friends and being outdoors. He loved hunting and spending time at the cabin on the mountain.

He worked for Lovell Clay Products and Aldrich Lumber. He was a carpet layer for many years, then Ferrell and Ed Doerr ran S&K Pallet Shop.

Ferrell joined the Wyoming Army National Guard in 1953 and served 27 1/2 years, and he was a member of the Lovell Fire Department for 35 years, also serving as chief for a time. He served on the Lovell Town Council and also the Hunt Canal Board and Friends of Bighorn Lake. He was always helping wherever he could in the community.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, daughter Carla McKinley, son Bob (Keela) Mangus, grandsons Jeremy and Wesley (Kaycie) Mangus and great-granddaughter Harper Anne, all of Lovell, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Henry, sisters Macie Fitzgerald, Doris Hoffman and Lawana and Irene Mangus, and nephews Noel Hoffman, Doyle Mangus, Gerald Mangus and Joseph A. Mangus.
