Alida Jane “Janie” Foster, nee Pearson, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell on December 31, 2021, at 75 years of age.
Janie was born in Powell on August 14, 1946, to Dave and Ruby Pearson. She was the second oldest of eight children and was raised and schooled in Byron.
Janie married Charles David Foster on November 30, 1964. Unable to have children of their own, Janie and David opened their home and their hearts by adopting and raising four children as their own, Pam, Monica, Eddie and Robert. In 1989, Janie lost her forever cowboy and went on to raise her children and her first granddaughter, Traci Ann, on her own. Janie was full of life, raising her children and granddaughter, caring for the children of others in her day care and still finding the energy to be the life of any party.
Janie didn’t like to stay put and was always doing something, so much so that sometimes she moved from one home to another twice in a year. On one occasion, Janie even sold her house just for a change of scenery. Whenever family came to visit, they knew to call ahead for her new address because she might not be living in the same place she had been six months earlier.
Janie didn’t know a stranger; she greeted everyone she met with open arms and acceptance. Her kindness and compassion for others knew no bounds, and she was the first to tell you and show you how much she loved you with a warm smile and a big hug. Janie would give her last dollar to anyone who needed it without expecting anything in return. She loved country music, bonfires, dancing, cooking, baking, making others laugh, Diet Pepsi and the Denver Broncos. But of all her favorite things, Janie was happiest when she was with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Though Janie is no longer with us in the physical form, she lives on through the qualities she instilled in every person she ever met: love, kindness, acceptance, compassion and loyalty. Her memory is alive and well and will continue to exist in the thoughts and actions of those who loved her and of whom she loved.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Debbie Burrows and Kay (Daniel) Foster and grandson Diego Rivera.
Janie is lovingly remembered by her children, Pam Raya of Byron, Monica Foster of Tucson, Arizona, Edward Foster of Casper and Robert Foster of Denver; grandchildren Traci (Kris) Singleton of Tucson, Stephanie (Victor) Puentes of Byron, Brandon Foster of Byron, David Foster of Denver, Ricky Rivera of Byron, Mariah Foster of Denver and Molly Foster of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren Eliana, Ethan, Kris Jr., Evan and Natalia; siblings Nora Lee (Jim) Cook of Windsor, Colorado, Joannie Rodriguez of Byron, Linda (Jack) Barnes of Powell, Robin (Terry Devyak) Barclay of Powell and Bobby (Sheryl) Hoffman of Garner, North Carolina; and an abundance of nieces and nephews, along with friends that became family.
To assure Janie’s final wishes are fully met, and to allow her family time to mourn her loss, Janie’s celebration of life will be held at the Lovell Community Center on January 29 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the Byron Cemetery at 11:30 a.m., followed by a repast at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Byron. In recognition and appreciation for all the love and support from family, friends and the local community, Janie’s family welcomes all who wish to attend.
