Arlene Allred Obituary

Arlene Allred died October 26, 2020, at New Horizons Care Center at the age of 94.  She was born July 8, 1926, in Lovell to Henry Bryan Manning Jolley and Elsie Walker.

She lived in Lovell her entire life.  She married Garth Gifford Allred on March 2, 1943, and they were sealed together in the Salt Lake temple later that same month.  Daughter, Judy Ann was born in 1944 followed by John, Duane, Edward, Kristine, Bruce, Kathy, and Randy bringing up the rear in 1967.  In 1946, Garth was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission.  He was gone for 2 years, leaving Arlene at home to care for two young children.  They lived with her parents and with Garth’s parents during that time.

Arlene was always a faithful member of the church and served in many callings in Primary, Relief Society and Sunday School.  She was a good mother and taught her children to live the gospel.  She also taught her family to work.  She was always busy and tried to make sure her children learned to be productive too.  She also liked to have fun.  She loved music and encouraged her children to develop their talents.

Throughout the years, she always had something going to keep her busy.  She enjoyed hobbies and created many useful gifts.  One of her favorite hobbies was leatherwork. She liked playing games with her children and grandchildren, but she was hard to tie down long enough to finish a game.  Numerous times during a game someone would have to yell “Mom, it’s your turn!” - she would be in the other room vacuuming or doing dishes or something else that needed to be done.  She was always ready for a trip to get a Dr. Pepper or some ice cream.  She loved going for a ride and she didn’t mind if it ended up at Walmart.

Her husband, Garth, died in 1989 and she lived alone on the family farm for nearly 30 years.  She was seldom alone for long, though, as children and grandchildren visited often and stayed with her to help keep her company.  As she got older, she began to have health problems and eventually could no longer take care of herself, even with the help she received from family.  She moved into the care center in March of 2018.  She loved having visitors and welcomed everyone who came to see her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Gerald Jolley and her sisters, Lois Davi and Roberta Paul.  She is survived by her children, Judy (Mike) Sessions, John (Bonnie) Allred, Duane (Sue) Allred, Ed (Geraldine) Allred, Kristine (LeRoy) Cahill, Bruce (Kim) Allred, Kathy (Gary) Leonhardt, and Randy (Chandel) Allred.  She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 128 great grandchildren, and 28 great-great grandchildren.
