Bret Brewster Obituary

Bret William Brewster, age 66, of Greybull, WY, was called home on May Day, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones after a hard-fought battle with MAC lung disease.

Bret is survived by his daughter Evelynne Brewster, his soul mate and longtime partner, Willow George, his sister, Sarah Watterson, his stepfather, John Watterson, a few cousins and a couple of ex-wives. Bret is preceded in death by both of his parents, Genevieve Evelyn (Lynne) Wheat and Anthony (Tony) Brewster and a countless number of animals.

Bret was born on June 30th, 1959, to Lynne and Tony in Phoenix, AZ on the Luke Airforce Base. When Bret was only six, his father, Tony, passed away from Hodgkin's Disease. While earning her English degree at Arizona State University, Lynne met and remarried John Watterson. Together, they moved to Littleton, CO and raised Bret.

At age 17, Bret left Littleton, CO and went to Phoenix, AZ where he lived running wild and quickly became a jack of all trades. His secret weapon was a quick wit and a sweet smile, and he was able to fix almost anything, usually with a cigarette in hand. He loved any kind of engine and could fix them all- from tandem dump trucks, motorcycles, and cars to single engine airplanes. While attending trade school, Bret earned his firefighter's degree and pursued his student pilot's license. He also involved himself with his local parachuting club, helping pack the parachutes, and made frequent jumps. Adrenaline was never out of reach for Bret.

In the late 90's, amidst living a true outlaw's life, Bret found himself cowboying in the Northwest. At the turn of the century, Bret simultaneously earned his highest title of "Dad" and faced his biggest challenge of raising his daughter. He tackled it by himself until meeting Willow in 2009. Together, all three moved between Montana and Wyoming, until finally settling in the Big Horns in 2012.

Bret built a good community of friends, often trading skills for tangible items, and could always solve any problem that was thrown at him. He loved rock and roll, shooting guns, and riding out in the hills, and showed his love for others through food. Bret's biggest gifts were his huge heart, emotional intelligence, and wisdom, all shaped from his countless experiences throughout life. His love defied all and could be identified by any living thing. He had immense patience and could always look at every angle of a situation before making a decision. He will be missed immensely by many and remembered forever.

A celebration of life will take place in the Greybull City Park, Greybull, WY, on Saturday, July 11th, 2026, at 12pm.
