Bruce Farmer Obituary

Bruce was born on May 5, 1947, in Pampa Texas to Everette and Betty Farmer. He had one brother: Richard (California) and four sisters: Dorris (Missouri), Karrol (Alabama), Elaine (Georgia) and Joanne (Missouri).

Bruce was drafted into the United States Army, infantry division during the Vietnam Era where he served with distinction. Bruce was honorably discharged from the US Army and is remembered as a proud and dedicated veteran. While he was in the Army he earned the following: Vietnam service medal with a bronze service star, Republic of Vietnam campaign medal, National Defense service medal and he was expert marksman in pistol and rifle.

After his time in the military, Bruce earned his associate’s degree in design. He built a life rooted in construction, painting, reflecting his talents for craftsmanship and work ethics. There was nothing too big for Bruce to tackle. He did some logging and gold panning in the California mountains along with fishing, camping and cooking over an open flame.

In 2010, Bruce found the love of his life-Lisa, and they started their journey together. They traveled to many states together, camping, fishing, dancing, buying brand new vehicles and homes. They cherished their home in Camp Nelson, California. Bruce and Lisa lived their lives well there, they enjoyed the Mountain Family they built there. Together they shared celebrating holidays and created cherished memories looking at Slate Mountain off their deck while sitting in the hot tub. Bruce would always say “Ain’t life grand” and he sure was right.  He loved singing Willie Nelson songs with his favorite being “an angel flying too close to the ground” for his wife Lisa. Beyond his work, Bruce was known to be one of a kind as he always told Lisa “you’ll never know a man like me!”

Bruce has four children: Chuck (Texas), James & wife Jackie (California), Bill & wife Teah (California) and one daughter Cindy & husband Carlos (California). Bruce gained a daughter Britney & son-in-law Carsten (Wyoming) when he married Lisa. Together they share nine grandchildren: Madilyn, Reese, Savannah, Cedar, Billy, Braze, Kaden, Adalyn and Garrison.

Bruce loved tinkering on his 77-ford truck and lived an active and adventurous life. Camping, fishing, going into Pecks Canyon with the boys, hunting with his buds Will Wooo and Brad Clark were all things that Bruce loved to do. Bruce was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Porterville Ca for many years, and he loved his whiskey and water. “Two fingers” is how he would tell people on how to make his drink.

Bruce and Lisa resided in Lovell Wy the past six years and enjoyed many days enjoying their grand babies together. Bruce led a very challenging life when it came to his health. He developed anemia, overcame three heart surgeries, prostate cancer, and a hip replacement. He was a patient at North Big Horn Hospital every week where he made many new friends. He would stay three days and then he would be ready to get back home. When all the conditions really started taking a toll on Bruce, his mind stayed strong, however his body was worn. He never gave up; he fought clear until the end.

This last year, Bruce & Lisa moved in with Britney & Carsten and their family so we could all help take care of Bruce. He was so blessed and received the best of care. Bruce passed away peacefully at his home in Lovell Wy surrounded by his family on January 18, 2026. His presence and onery sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who had to privilege of knowing him.
