Clarence Walter Mangus, 64, passed away August 24, 2022, at the North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell Wyoming, surrounded by family. He was born November 25, 1957, in Lovell Wyoming to Kenneth Ray Mangus Sr and Carol B Brown. He was the third child in a family of 5. Donna Rae, Debra Rae, Clarence Walter, Kenneth Ray Jr and Kimlee B.
After Ken Sr and Carol divorced Ken later married Geraldine Kirklin, bringing 2 more siblings into the family, Shawna and Mark. That marriage added the last of the siblings, David and Darryn making a total of 9 children to the sibling mix. He lived and grew up in a lot of different states including Louisiana, California, Montana and Wyoming.
He married Rae Lynn Trotchie, on November 17, 2000, in Greeley Colorado. They made their home in Colorado for several years finally settling in Lovell Wyoming.
Walt loved the outdoors, he was in his element when he was exploring, trapping and living off the land. He was always happiest when he was just being a simple mountain man alone in the outdoors. He was an avid collector, he loved hunting and collecting rocks. He was a friend to so many people and made friends wherever he went. He was always willing to help anyone in need and help out with anyone at any time.
At the time of his death, he was raising his 3 grandsons, Michael, Marshall and MacArthur along with his niece Kalonna. He was a good man with a big heart.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Clarence and Leola Mangus and maternal grandparents Wallace and Verda Brown. His parents Kenneth Ray Mangus Sr and Carol B Brown Mangus. His stepmother Geraldine Mangus. His sisters Donna Rae, Debra and brother Mark.
He is survived by his wife Rae Lynn; children Forrest, Remi, Brittany and Niquita; his 3 grandsons; brothers Kenneth Jr and Linda of Lovell, WY, Kimlee B and Julie of Billings, MT, David of Billings, MT, Darryn and Kristi of Billings, MT; sister Shawna of Billings, MT; many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be at the Haskell Funeral Home on Monday August 29th at 11 am. with Bishop Matt Bassett officiating.
