Colleen (Wambeke) Lawless

Colleen Wambeke Lawless was born May 7th, 1953, in Lovell, WY to Henry and Hazel Hopkin Wambeke. Colleen joined her older siblings: Harry; IlaJean; and Diane. She later became big sister to Bobbi Jo. Colleen married Ray Lawless in December 1988 and they spent many happy years together. They were blessed to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary shortly before her passing. Colleen and Ray had no children of their own but opened their hearts and home to countless pets. They also had many nieces and nephews they loved and cared for as their own.

Colleen lost her mom, Hazel, at a very young age and in her grief, she found a lifelong love of all animals. She found solace in caring for all of god’s creatures and dedicated her life to her loved ones. Colleen was a generous person who always lent a helping hand and was fiercely loyal to those she loved. Colleen lived a life full of love and adventure. She loved the outdoors, especially the Big Horn Mountains, where she spent countless hours in their peace and splendor while camping, fishing, and exploring.

Colleen passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 1, 2024, following a prolonged illness, with her beloved husband Ray, her sister IlaJean, and her baby Tuffi by her side.

Colleen was preceded in death by her father Henry; mother Hazel; brother Harry; and sister Diane Lang.

She is survived by her husband Ray; sister IlaJean (Arnold) Jenkins; sister Bobbi Jo (Shane) Bradford; her baby Tuffi; and many other family and friends.
