Darrell Dean Skinner, 85, of Lovell, WY, passed away February 18, 2026, in Billings, MT. He was born August 16, 1940, in Provo Bench, UT to parents John and Marjorie Skinner. Darrell grew up in the family orchards in Orem, UT and had a knack for fixing things from a very young age.
Darrell enlisted in the United States Army at age 16 and served in the US Army Special Forces during the Vietnam War. He transferred to the United States Naval Air for the remainder of his military career. He often shared stories from his time in the Navy and was proud of his service. Darrell met his eternal sweetheart and wife of 49 years, Barbara Adolf, in 1965. They were married three years later in the Salt Lake City Temple. Darrell was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After retiring from the Navy, Darrell purchased a home in Lovell, WY in 1979 and opened an auto mechanic shop. Darrell and his family briefly moved to Magnolia, TX before relocating to Stella, MO in 1983, owning and operating a small dairy farm. The family then returned to Lovell in 1991, where Darrell resided ever since. He was employed in various positions as a mechanic, ranch foreman, and truck driver. During retirement, he enjoyed visits from grandchildren, hauling beets as long as he was able, and tinkering on whatever needed attention or repair. As always, he continued to serve as the best phone-call mechanic and problem-solver for his children and others. Beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, and neighbor, Darrell will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
Darrell is survived by his brothers Evan (Jean) Skinner and Rex (Susan) Skinner, and his children; Brenda (Gary) Emmett, Michael (Sarah) Skinner, Jennifer Skinner, Julie (Ken) Johnson, as well as 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, son Jacob John Skinner, parents John and Marjorie Skinner, brother Leonard Skinner and sister Georgia Young.
