Elisa "Licha" Barron Obituary

Elisa “Licha” G. Barron 84, of Lovell, Wyoming, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on August 5, 2021. She was born May 18, 1937, at La Jara Ranch, Hidalgo County, Texas to Pedro Garza and Librada Lopez.

Licha was raised on ranch life with a large extended family that included aunts, uncles and many cousins. The family moved to Hargill, Texas where she attended school. She excelled in school sports, especially baseball, as an excellent pitcher.  

On May 29, 1954, Miss Elisa Garza married Roberto Barron in Edinburg, Texas. They raised twelve children and made their home in Hargill, Texas. As farmworkers the family would migrate over Texas, the Midwest, Washington State and Wyoming. Life was not easy for Elisa, but she endured with her faith and strength, always found the best way for her family. She had a great sense of humor.

As an adult she became an excellent pool player. Licha was a pet lover, loved butterflies and a collector of dolls, and roosters. She enjoyed listening to Tejano Music and dancing. She loved family get together and barbecuing and she always had for you, a cup of coffee, a humble meal and fresh tortillas. She was a great cook and would share family recipes that have been in the family for generations such as tamales, passing them down to her grandchildren.  She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.  

Elisa is survived by her children: seven daughters, Gloria Barron and Diana Hernandez of Lovell, WY, Aurora (Donald) Rodriguez of Cody, WY, Rosa Elia Montanez of Lovell, WY, Yolanda Odilia (Salomon) Davila of Hargill, Texas, Melinda Barron of Lubbock, Texas and Monica Barron of Everett, WA, three sons: Omar Roel Barron, Dimas Barron, and Pedro Antonio Barron of Lovell, WY. She is survived by 40 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Librada Garza, her husband Roberto Barron, her sons, Roberto Barron Jr, and Pablo Barron, her grandson, Rosendo Hernandez, an infant granddaughter, Elisa Olga Ybarra, her siblings: Mateo Garza, Rafael Garza, Amancio Garza, Juan E. Garza, Consuelo L. Patina, Angelita G. Hernandez and Elvira G. Patina, her daughter-in-law Marcella Torres, sons-in-law: Ruben Hernandez, Armando Salazar and Joseph Montanez, and several nieces and nephews.
