Johnie Layne of Lovell was called home July 9, 2023, after a courageous battle of cancer. He passed away at his childhood home surrounded by his family.
He was born May 8, 1951, in McMinnville, Tennessee to William and Rosa Lee Layne. He was the 7th of 8 children. At a very young age the family moved to Lovell. He attended school in Lovell. In 1971, he married Cathy Ladd of Powell. They later divorced.
Johnie resided in Montana and Oregon. He later met his spouse Carolyn Osbourne and the two moved back to Lovell where he restored his childhood home.
Johnie had a passion for collecting things from antique glass to baseball cards. He enjoyed working in his yard and visiting friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Rosa Lee Layne; Fred Hodges; sister Mildred Bate; brothers Wiley, Earl, and Melvin Layne; and son Mike Layne.
He is survived by his son Shawn Layne of Kalispell, MT; his daughters Krystal Pulver (Bill) of Lovell, WY and Lisa Layne of Kalispell, MT; 9 grandchildren: Ashley, Jordan (Nicole), Emily, Brittney, Madison, Chloe, Kinsey, Isaac, and Michael; 2 great-grandchildren: Watson and Aubrey; his sister Lois Layne; brothers Alton and Jack Layne; his spouse Carolyn Osbourne; and many nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the nurses at North Big Horn Hospital and to Dr. Caldwell for the amazing care given to him in his final days; and to Stacy Miller, Jundee Layne, Austin and Alisha Layne for all the love and support in his final weeks.
Cremation has taken place.
