The Southern Belle, born and raised in Morton, Mississippi, LaVera Hillman has joined with her forever partner and our Lord and Savior.   LaVera Hillman passed away on Thursday, July 29th, 2021, at the Care Center in Lovell, Wyoming.  LaVera just celebrated her 97th birthday with family and friends on July 13th.

Born on July 13, 1924, to Albert Benjamin Cooper and Florence Lutishey Stuart, she was raised on the Cotton Farms in Mississippi.  She met her future husband, Irvin E. Hillman while attending a Junior College in Jackson, Mississippi.  LaVera served as a supporter of the war effort while Irvin was in the Army Air Corps.  It was there that they fell in love and became husband and wife.

Irvin and LaVera made their way to Wyoming in 1947 to raise their family.  Together they raised four children; Mark, Janice, Larry and Susan.  LaVera worked throughout her life in Lovell in the US Post Office, Western National Bank and as the face of the Town of Lovell. It was at the Town of Lovell that she retired her working mother career.

During her working years and after retirement she was always actively involved at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Where she actively served as a Sunday School Teacher, Alter Guild as a Communion Server, and Hymn Leader, and an active member of LWML.  St. Johns gave her great comfort.
