Lola Irene Rausch, age 86, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell, Wyoming. She was born on November 18, 1939, in Seattle, Washington, to Russell Miller and Leona Miller. Lola lived a life defined by resilience, warmth, humor, and an unwavering devotion to her family and community.
Lola spent her early years in the Pacific Northwest, where she developed the strong spirit and adventurous heart that would carry her throughout her life. In her younger days, she embraced adventure wholeheartedly, including an exciting period when she developed a passion for snow machine racing in Alaska. That same fearless determination would later guide her in her career, her service, and her family life.
Over the years, Lola built a diverse and accomplished professional life. She worked as a banker and later as a caterer, bringing both precision and creativity to everything she did. Her dedication to civic engagement led her to serve as Planning and Zoning Committee Chair, a role in which she worked diligently to support thoughtful growth and development in her community. Whether balancing finances, preparing meals, or reviewing proposals, Lola approached each responsibility with care and commitment.
Twenty-five years ago, Lola made Byron, Wyoming her home. There, she became a familiar presence, known for her strong opinions and quick wit. She formed lasting friendships and remained actively involved in her community while devoting herself to her Byron family.
Lola was married to the love of her life, Clifford Rausch, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life centered on love, perseverance, and shared laughter. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lola’s pride in her family circle was immeasurable.
She is survived by her daughters, Simmone Rausch and Yvonne Thomas; her son Stanley Thomas; her brother, Reed Miller; her sisters, Cheryl Cetina and Vicki Burkholz; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Her legacy lives on in each of them.
In her quieter moments, Lola found happiness in simple pleasures. She loved baking, knitting and crocheting, chasing her desire to create joy while keeping her hands and mind busy. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, always eager for that next mental challenge.
Lola’s personality was as memorable as her accomplishments. She was fiercely loyal, outspoken, and full of life. Her sister Cheryl shared these heartfelt words: “Lola was my older sister, and she was always there for me. I loved her, dearly. She was a crazy old broad, and I’m going to miss her. RIP.” That blend of affection and humor captures Lola perfectly strong, loving, and unapologetically herself.
A burial will take place in Vancouver, Washington, with the time and date to be determined. Though she will be deeply missed, those who knew Lola will carry forward her strength, laughter, and enduring love.
