Luther "Pete" Harvey Jr., age 101, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 21, 2026.
Pete was born April 28, 1924, on the family farm in Cowley, Wyoming, to Luther and Julia Harvey. He grew up in a large family with his brothers Wilber, Fred, Cal, Clyde, Don, Ed, Mel, and Glen, and his sister, Leila. From an early age, Pete learned the value of hard work and devoted his life to farming and ranching.
In 1943, Pete was drafted into the United States Army and served as a Private with the 159th Infantry during World War II. His service included time in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska and later in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and received several military honors.
In 1955, Pete met Edna DeGraw Brightly. They moved to Byron, Wyoming, in 1965, where Pete continued his work in agriculture. Pete and Edna were married December 24, 1977. Edna's children—Fred, Charlie, Lenard, Warren "Tookie," Elizabeth "Heidi," Gale, and Dale Brightly—became part of Pete's life and family.
Pete worked many years in farming and ranching and was known for his gardens, woodworking, and determination to stay busy well into his later years.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Byron LDS Church. Military Services will be held at the church following the services.
