MonaLee (Bassett) Averett

MonaLee Averett, 88, of passed away at her home on October 29,2023. MonaLee was born in Los Angeles, California on June 15, 1935, to Herald Neilsen Bassett and Lorrene Whetstone. She spent most of her childhood in California, then finished her education at Lovell High School, graduating in 1953.

MonaLee married Thomas Z Averett and together they had 6 children, Mark (Julie), Randal (Vicki), Michelle (Richard), Wade (Terri), Kent, and Justin (Colleen). She worked as a telephone operator, a part-time mail delivery driver and a full-time mom.  Mona Lee was a dedicated wife, mother, and daughter who cared for her parents as they aged and was the primary caregiver for her husband and his parents for many years. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in various callings. She enjoyed singing, reading, indexing, and all things chocolate!  MonaLee is survived by her siblings: Lawrence, Earl, Mary Kay, Cabot and Brent; her children, 22 grandchildren, and 51 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom and her beloved parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 50 W Main Street, Lovell, Wyoming, Saturday, November 4, 2023 @ 10:00 a.m. in the East Chapel. A viewing will be held from 8:30-9:45 a.m. preceding the services in the West chapel. Interment to follow at the Lovell Cemetery.
