Motter Clarke Thomas, 83, of Post Falls, Idaho, died on April 3, 2023, near Lovell, Wyoming. He was born on April 8, 1939, to Mary Elizabeth Bussard Thomas and Motter Conner Thomas in Frederick, Maryland, and was the youngest of three children.
As a youngster, he loved playing baseball. He graduated from Western Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado, in 1962 with a major in Business Administration. He then enlisted in the US Marine Corps, where he served for about three years.
He married Elizabeth Patton Conley of Frederick, Maryland, in 1967 and they later divorced.
Clarke worked a range of jobs during his lifetime, including real estate.
He is survived by his older brother, William Clinton Thomas of Richmond, Virginia, and two daughters, Elaine Conley Thomas of Manila, the Philippines and Dr. Mary Clay Thomas of Staunton, Virginia. He had six grandchildren.
