Myrna (George) Dyksman

On January 29, 2023, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Myrna George Dyksman passed away at the age of 81in her home in Queen Creek, Arizona. She was born on February 25,1941 in Lovell, Wyoming the youngest child and only daughter of Laura Dalton and Kendall Alva George.

Myrna spent her early life traveling. Kendall built their own travel trailer. In it, they traveled across the mountain west to wherever work took them. She remembered how much she loved that trailer. The family finally settled near Cowley, Wyoming. There Myrna grew up in a log home that was built by her father. It was located across the highway from her maternal grandparent’s home. Myrna spent many happy hours at her grandparents, a place of peace and happiness.

Myrna was an avid lifetime learner and student. In addition to scholastics, she was active in all areas of school life: FHA, annual staff, pep club, drama, music, softball, and speech. Throughout all her activities, she was presented with many school awards.  She graduated from Cowley High School in 1959 and she received the University of Wyoming scholarship. Throughout her life Myrna was an avid reader of many different types of books.

She married Keith Robertson Yorgason on October 12, 1957. Together, they had 4 children: Rick, Laura, Shane, and Leigh Anne. They lived primarily in Wyoming and Utah until they divorced. On December 9, 1967, she married, Mikel Dyksman with whom she spent her bountiful and full life until Mikel passed in 2022.

Myrna worked in many different positions throughout her life: waitress at Harmon’s Café, receptionist at Wasatch Electric, and collections manager at Sears and Roebuck. Her last position was office manager for her sons at McCoy Auction.

In addition to working outside the home, she worked hard to keep her home inviting to all. Myrna was an immaculate housekeeper, a talented artist and enjoyed counted cross stitch, oil painting, ceramics, gardening, and making her famous "Missionary Pie." She was a talented seamstress sewing many articles of clothing including a daughter’s wedding dress. She enjoyed playing softball and participating in bowling leagues.

Myrna was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In her youth, she was involved in genealogical research and participated in trips to the Idaho Falls Temple. She served in many callings in the Church including organist in the Jr Sunday School, Primary teacher, Young Women’s President, and Relief Society President. In later years, she and Mike moved to Fernley, Nevada and served in the Reno Nevada Temple.

Myrna and Mike returned to Lovell, WY where she reconnected with many old friends including her best friend and cousin, Helen Kay Grant. Eventually, in 2019, the couple moved to Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mikel Dyksman, daughter-in-law Janie Yorgason, and great-granddaughter Kynzie Brei Neil. 

She is survived by her children: Rick (Melinda) Yorgason, Laura (Jim) Benson, Shane (Lynette) Yorgason, Leigh Anne (Dieter) Klunker; 22 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; brother, Ernest George, and sister-in-law Maria Dijksman Snijder, stepchildren Julie (Cory) Rich and Linda Wiggill.

Viewing was held February 11, 2023, Falconer Funeral Home in Chandler, Arizona.  Interment was held February 16, 2023, in the Lovell Cemetery, Lovell, Wyoming.
