Rosemarie Brinkerhoff Obituary

Rosemarie May Brinkerhoff passed away on November 8, 2020 at the Horizon Care Center in Lovell, Wyoming at the age of 92.

Rosemarie was the 7th of 10 children born to Oliver Cromwell May and Grace Porter May.  Rosemarie was born February 15th, 1928.  She loved calling her nieces, Loretta and Cheryl, and her nephew Perry to say Happy Birthday because they all shared the same birthday.  Rosemarie was raised in Kane, Wyoming and had fond memories of all those that had lived there.  Rosemarie graduated from Lovell High School in 1946.  Her class statement was “Compel Me Not to Toe the Line.”  She enjoyed her work as a telephone operator in Lovell.  She served an LDS mission in the Baton Rouge Louisiana mission and had lifelong friends from Louisiana.  She attended BYU and enjoyed her time there.  She dated Floyd Brinkerhoff at home and long distance while he was attending BYU in Provo, Utah.  Floyd and Rosemarie were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 20th, 1956.  The two resided in California for a short time but then moved back to Lovell and made it their home.

Rosemarie was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and cherished her membership and her Savior.  She served in many capacities in her local congregation.  She was well read and read so many classic books to us each night that her children passed all author tests in school with ease. She was very patriotic and loved America and its freedoms.  She was a talented teacher and writer and even had some of her poems published.  Her hobbies were writing, reading, and her family.  She was a great mother and taught us so many things about others, God and the three R’s.  She canned almost everything she grew from her garden and was a great bread maker.  Whenever she made homemade chicken noodle soup, we always had to take some to various families in Lovell.

Rosemarie and Floyd loved their nieces and nephews from both sides of their families.  If any were coming over to their home, they always tried to have something fun planned for them when they arrived.

Rosemarie is survived by her spouse, Floyd, and their five children; Belinda, Jan, Lori, Cole, and Kara.  She has 19 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Rosemarie was preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Grace (Loretta) May; her sisters Venus, Virga, Phyllis, and Phern; and her brothers Porter, Andrew, Jay, and Jerry.  She is survived by one sister, Priscilla May Caturia.

The family wants to thank all of those who have helped take care of Rosemarie in the Horizon Care Center. Our precious mother will be missed, but we know that she is surrounded by her loved ones in Heaven.

Due to COVID restrictions there will only be a Graveside Service at noon on November 11, 2020 at the Lovell Cemetery.
