Sally Marie (Bear) Davies was born 3/16/1935 in Seely, WY to Clarence Lee Bear and Miriam Lousie (Bay) Bear. She was tenth in the line of eleven children and the last one of her immediate family to pass. Sally died 6/10/2026, at the age of 91 in her home surrounded by her family. She grew up in Moorcroft and graduated High School in 1953. She married the love of her life, Donald Isaac Davies on November 17, 1953, and then boom, boom, boom along came, Denise, Deborah, Donata, Donald and Jane.
The family moved around in the early years as Don worked construction and then settled in Greybull WY in 1955. The couple opened Davies Machine Shop employing all the family for many years. Sally loved her family very much and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them.
Sally did not drive so was chauffeured daily by Don and her daughters. When riding with Don she sat right next to him in the pickup and the two looked like teenagers! She loved to eat out, gamble, shop, bowl, and travel. The couple traveled to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii, Belize, Alaska and many other states. She was very brave as evidenced by the time she went parasailing even though she was afraid of heights and could not swim! Sally enjoyed spending time at Boysen Lake with daughter Donata and family, fishing, reading, eating, taking boat rides, hosting other kids and grandkids, and just sitting and enjoying the view.
Every Father’s Day for over 60 years, the Bear families reunited at Devils Tower for a weekend of camping, eating great food, playing cards, telling stories, and laughing until you cried. Sally never missed a year!
Sally bowled with her daughters for several years traveling to Reno and Iowa for Nationals. She was known everywhere as “that sweet lady.”
Sally loved to crochet, embroider and paint dish towels and all her children received them from her every Christmas. Christmas was her most favorite time of the year and the annual trip to Billings a highlight. Mostly a girl’s trip, her husband Don was the only male past 2 years of age allowed to attend. Don and Sally were rarely apart.
Sally had a great sense of humor. She was witty, fun, kind, happy and just a wonderful person. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed!
Sally was preceded in death by grandsons Clayton Robert and Donald Chadwick Ellis and Granddaughter Jessica Ione Craft.
She is survived by her children Denise and (Brian) Ellis of Basin Wyoming, Deborah and (John) Craft of Basin Wyoming, Donata and (Vern) Henderson of Greybull Wyoming, Jane Glasso of Worland Wyoming, and Donald and (Lynne) Davies of Basin, Wyoming, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
