Alfred Neil Stanger and his identical twin Alvin Noel came into this world on April 2, 1928. Neil left us to return to his Lord and Savior on August 11, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Neil's parents were Grant Calvert Stanger and Leah Virginia Jones Stanger. The family lived in Inkom, Idaho. Brothers and a sister were born later in the following order: Grant Edward, Enoch Frederick, Lynn Dennis, Virgil Leon, Jennie Lou, Hyrum Thomas and Calvert Lee. The family lived in Inkom the entire time Neil was growing up. Neil and his brothers and sisters all attended school in Inkom.

At the age of sixteen he came to the Big Horn Basin to visit family. While there he met the love of his life Donna Lee Cook. Several years later they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple.

In the following years five children were born to Neil and Donna. The children in birth order are: Catherine Marie, Donald Grant, Julie Ann, Larry Neil and Jennie Lou.

Neil and his family moved several times over the years. They lived in Idaho, Wyoming and
Utah at various times.

Neil was a man who never knew a stranger. Everywhere he went he either knew someone or made new friends. He enjoyed fixing things and building things. Fishing was also something he loved to do. He was a great storyteller and kept family and friends entertained with exciting tales. He was also a talented harmonica player.

Neil was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was an active and faithful member who held many church positions over the years. He and Donna enjoyed living in Billings, Montana and working in the temple there.

Neil is survived by his wife Donna Lee Stanger, son Donald Grant Stanger (Terri), daughter Catherine Marie Brunko (Gary), Julie Ann Faber, Larry Neil Stanger (Lisa), Jennie Lou Schlenker (Bill), brothers Alvin Noel, Virgil Leon (Linley), Calvert Lee and sister Jennie Lou Winter (Gene), 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. There are several more great-grandchildren expected soon. There are also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents Grant Calvert Stanger, mother Leah Virginia, brothers Grant, Freddy, Lynn and Tom, Grandchildren Amy Brunko, Ben Brunko and Jennifer Storer.

Aunt Donna,
Our hearts are heavy for you and the family at the loss of Uncle Neil. He always had a special place in my heart and having him gone leaves an empty space no one can fill. Please know we love you and pray peace and comfort for you and the family.
